Assanaba Imoro is a seasoned public sector executive, education management expert, agribusiness practitioner, and politician with over three decades of experience in leadership, governance, policy implementation, and community development. He is widely respected for his strategic insight, ethical leadership, and unwavering commitment to accountability, inclusivity, and sustainable national development.
He currently serves as the Executive Secretary of the Grains and Legumes Development Board, where he provides strategic direction and administrative oversight for policy coordination, institutional development, stakeholder engagement, and value-chain growth within Ghana’s grains and legumes sector. His leadership is distinctly informed by both policy expertise and practical farming experience, enabling him to advance farmer-centered, results-driven initiatives that support food security and agribusiness sustainability.
Earlier in his professional career, Assanaba Imoro worked with Mim Timber Company, where he acquired over a decade of hands-on experience in the timber and forestry industry. This formative period exposed him to industrial operations, natural resource management, and private-sector organizational systems, laying a strong foundation for his later roles in public administration, education, and agribusiness governance.
He subsequently joined the Ghana Education Service, where he served with distinction as a classroom teacher, Circuit Supervisor, Headteacher, and later as Deputy Director of Education for the Asunafo North Municipal Assembly. In this role, he was responsible for educational quality assurance, supervision, performance evaluation, and institutional compliance. His steady career progression reflects deep expertise in human capital development, public sector administration, and institutional leadership.
Beyond public service, Assanaba Imoro is an accomplished agribusiness practitioner and farmer. He owns and manages cocoa farms, oil palm plantations, and cultivates maize, cassava, plantain, and other food crops. This practical, hands-on agricultural experience enhances his credibility and effectiveness in engaging farmers, cooperatives, and agribusiness stakeholders across the value chain.
Assanaba Imoro is also a committed politician with extensive grassroots and organizational experience. He has actively participated in party organization, political mobilization, and policy advocacy, contributing meaningfully to democratic participation and political development at the local and regional levels. His political engagement is guided by the principles of service, social justice, accountability, and inclusive governance.
In addition, he has demonstrated strong civic and human rights leadership through his long-standing involvement with Amnesty International Ghana, where he served as a Regional Coordinator, promoting human rights education, advocacy, and institutional accountability. He has also served as an Assemblyman and as a member of key municipal sub-committees, contributing to local development planning, governance, and infrastructure delivery.
Academically, Assanaba Imoro holds a Master of Arts in Human Rights from the University of Education, Winneba, and an Executive Degree in Oil and Gas Management from the Management Development and Productivity Institute (MDPI), Ghana. His professional journey reflects a strong commitment to lifelong learning, ethical leadership, and results-oriented governance.
His contributions have been recognized through several honours, including the Asunafo North Best Teacher Award (Technical Division) and an Honorary Eminence Award for his dedication to the development of the Ahafo Traditional Area.
Assanaba Imoro is married with four (4) children. He brings to leadership a balanced, people-centered approach that integrates public service, agribusiness, political engagement, and strong family and community values.
